Scottish Sea Farms new contract boost for Fusion Marine

A Scottish Sea Farms contract worth £700,000 was confirmed this week to Fusion Marine, adding to an existing £1 million pound spend which was agreed in October this year.

This latest contract is part of an ongoing expansion and investment programme by Scottish Sea Farms and will provide the company with new fish pens for sites including Kishorn and equipment for its hatchery at Knock.  The additional spend comes on the back of a £1 million pound investment with Fusion Marine for fish pens for new Scottish Sea Farms sites in Orkney.

This latest contract will shortly get underway and a number of other businesses will benefit from this investment, with Scottish hauliers, hotels and hire companies all utilised by Scottish Sea Farms and Fusion Marine during the completion of the project.

Scottish Sea Farms Managing Director, Jim Gallagher, said: “This latest contract, coupled with our £1 million pound order in October, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to using Scottish suppliers.  We have been working with Fusion Marine for a number of years now and this latest contract builds on this strong relationship and helps us to develop our fish farming sites for the future.  We are also recruiting at many of our sites, with skilled jobs available for local areas where employment is often scarce.”

The Fusion Marine pens are incredibly strong and provide excellent containment for the salmon.  They also have safety decking for operator protection and convenience.

Stephen Divers, Managing Director of Fusion Marine, said: “We are delighted with this latest contract, which comes at a time when we are investing in new staff and equipment to ensure our business continues to move forward.  Salmon farming plays a crucial role in helping support the rural west coast economy and also provides the platform for further opportunities for sustainable development.  The secure containment of stock is our primary focus and we are currently working closely with Scottish Sea Farms on new and innovative research and development projects that will benefit both the industry and the local communities that depend upon it.”
